“I grew up in the small community of La Ciénaga neighboring Cabarete. At the age of 12, I began going to the beach where I was introduced to windsurfing. As I grew more passionate for the sport by learning from a friend, I began competing and working as an instructor to share my love of the water. At 23, I had the opportunity to fulfill my dream and come to the United States where I met a family that inspired me to help my community. While living in and around Cabarete, I met many families struggling to meet their basic needs. After being given many opportunities through my windsurfing career, I helped create the foundation as a way to help those within my community. It makes me very happy to see a better quality of life for those in need through the work of our foundation and I hope we are able to achieve many of our goals and expand our support to more individuals in need.”

“Growing up near Cabarete, I was introduced to life on the water at a very young age. As my passion for watersports grew, I became an instructor as a way to share my love for the water and expand access to these activities to the children on my community.  Being raised without a father figure, I began working very young to help provide for my family. Having experienced that, I want to ensure a life free from need, not only for my son, but for the families of my community. It is for this reason, that I incorporated education for the youth of the community into the efforts of our foundation. I believe it is very important to provide children with the resources needed to find success and happiness, since they are the future of the community.”
